What to expect
I am all about making it personal, tailoring your session to fit you and your family's lifestyle and personalities. We will discuss ideas over the phone or via e-mail, depending on your preference - I want to hear your story and what memories you hold most dear to you. I shoot only in your home, in-hospital (for newborns) or at an outdoor location that is meaningful to your family, and do not encourage the use of props or fancy clothing (unless of course that is how you dress every day!). I do encourage familiar activities and lots of play and interaction ... For couples, this could mean relaxing with a glass of wine at home or strolling through your favourite neighbourhood. For maternity sessions, getting the nursery ready with your partner or just you soaking up the calm with your favourite book. For newborns, you losing yourself to the rush of emotion in the first hours after the birth, or snuggling up with and caring for your wee one in the comfort of your home. For families, reading or playing with your favourite toys at home, or romping through a park or playground.
On the day itself, expect me to show up with my camera ready to fire the moment we meet. If the shoot includes children, I will usually take a few minutes to chat to them and get them used to me. After that - anything goes! I prefer to follow your lead and fade into the background, but will occasionally offer direction especially with regards to lighting. I will also at some point pull everyone together for a couple of family portraits (if you would like that), but otherwise my focus will be your story as it unfolds before me.
And yes, everyone worries about the state of their home ... It would be helpful to tidy up a little before our session, but I literally mean make it a bit tidier, not clean out your home! I may occasionally move some small items around during our shoot. And please wear whatever makes you comfortable, not overly matchy - my only request is no loud prints or neon colours. Small prints work great on little children.
What happens after
You will get a password-protected online gallery of the fully edited images for digital download, approximately 6 weeks after your shoot. I do try my best however to e-mail you a few sneak peeks within a week of your shoot, and may post a highlight or two on social media. Designing and producing your photo book will take a further 6-8 weeks after you have received your gallery, depending on delivery lead times from the US (where the books are printed).
Singapore sessions range from S$900-1500 (including high-resolution digital files), with additional products available upon request. Session details and rates can be found here. For shoots outside Singapore, please contact me for travel rates.
How to book your session
Send me an e-mail with your desired or approximate session dates, questions (if any), and tell me a little bit about your family. Once we agree on timing, I will send across a contract with details of the deposit required to hold your session date. Currently my weekend sessions book out 1-2 months in advance, so do get in touch as early as you can.
